Tooth Extractions
If you're facing a tooth extraction, you likely have questions and concerns: Will it hurt? How will it affect my appearance? What about eating afterward? Will I need to replace the tooth?
At Smiles Art Dentistry, Dr. Shawki Abed and our team understand these concerns and take time to address each one. From your initial consultation through your recovery and discussions about replacement options, we’ll support you every step of the way.
When Tooth Extraction Becomes Necessary
Preserving natural teeth is always our goal; however, certain situations make extraction the healthiest option. Dr. Abed carefully considers each case and recommends extraction only when it serves your best interests.
Some situations where we could recommend extraction include:
- Severe damage from decay or trauma
- Advanced gum disease that has loosened teeth
- Wisdom teeth that are impacted or causing problems
- Teeth causing crowding or complicating orthodontic treatment
- An infection that doesn’t respond to root canal therapy
- Preparation for full dentures when remaining teeth are compromised
